Jury Eligibility Criteria Consultation
Overview
There is currently a wide range of automatic exemptions which apply to those people who can be selected for Jury duty. The Government is considering removing a large number of automatic exemptions, so more people would be eligible to serve on a jury. While certain professions would no longer be automatically exempt from jury eligibility, individual circumstances will still be considered when a person is called for jury service, and exemptions are likely be granted on a case-by-case basis where there is a valid reason to do so, as currently happens.
