Artist’s Resale Right
Overview
Artist’s Resale Right – an intellectual property right which entitles artists to a proportion of the value of any of their artworks that are resold.
Why your views matter
Artist’s Resale Right has been established in the UK and across the EU since 2006, but has never been introduced to the Isle of Man. This consultation seeks views as to whether it should be introduced in the Island.
What happens next
Following consultation, the Department will:
- review and evaluate comments received from consultees;
- advise consultees as to whether the Department intends to proceed with introduction of Artist’s Resale Right in the Isle of Man;
- if it is decided that ARR should be introduced in the Island, submit suitable legislation to Tynwald for approval.
