This Consultation Response is issued by the Department for Enterprise following its consultation on the options for the replacement of the TT Course Scoreboard on Glencrutchery Road, Douglas.

The Department received over 500 direct responses, however a significant number of these were found to be duplicates. Once all duplicated responses were removed, 163 unique responses were analysed and the percentage split of the responses is shown below:

Option A - To build a “like for like” permanent fixed replacement with no changes to the overall desig -  received the most responses, 75.74% (103 responses).

The Department has taken the responses into account and will now start commissioning design work for the replacement Scoreboard that will retain the fundamental look and feel of the existing Scoreboard, but will also contain certain elements of modern digital technology within that look and feel.

Overview

The TT Course Scoreboard is nearing the end of its usable life and will need to be replaced. In order to obtain the view of both the public and fans alike as to what any replacement scoreboard should, look like, what technology should be used and in what form this might be. This information will be used to direct the Department’s development of the replacement.

Why your views matter

In order to obtain the broadest possible indication of what may or may not be acceptable, in order to ensure that any replacement takes into account, both the heritage and history of the event, but also looks to ensure the scoreboard has a significant life span in terms of build and technology use.
