Proposed Fee Framework for the Data Asset Register
Overview
The Department for Enterprise is seeking views on the proposed fee framework for the Data Asset Register.
The Data Asset Register forms part of the wider Data Asset Foundations regime, which is intended to provide a clear and credible legal framework for recognising, managing and using data as an asset. The regime is designed to support new economic opportunities for the Isle of Man, including the development of professional, legal, financial, technical and digital services.
The consultation paper sets out the proposed approach to funding the Register and the fees payable in connection with registered data assets. It covers registration and annual fees, optional services, annual indexation and the proposed approach to reviewing fees as the Register grows.
The consultation is intended to gather feedback before the Data Asset Register (Fees) Regulations are finalised.
Why your views matter
We are consulting to refine the proposed fee framework for the Data Asset Register before the supporting regulations are completed.
We are particularly seeking views on whether the proposed approach is clear, proportionate and sustainable, and whether the fees provide an appropriate basis for the long term operation and development of the Register.
Responses will be reviewed and used to inform the final fee framework and the Data Asset Register Fees Regulations.
